Today I took a bike trip to a beach I wanted to go to and @googlemaps took me on a scenic road most of the way until I hit a sand road on the edge of a quarry. I was too nervous to go down myself so I tried a detour that ended me up in a maze of a village with more rocky sand roads. I decided to give up on that beach but the drive was beautiful and I got to stop at @woodshackbali for lunch. As corny as it sounds it's about the journey not the destination. #solotravel #bali
I shared this picture on my stories yesterday and I kept going back to it today because the sunset was just out of this world beautiful. I've been trying to avoid posting sunset and landscape shots on my feed because I wanted to really curate my Instagram to showcase what I do in a professional sense. Nature doesn't really need styling though and it's more beautiful than anything I could ever design or put together. It's been designed by someone much greater than me and it's a beauty so worth sharing. Nature also has all the best colour palettes. I've shared a few on my stories today from my finds on the beach. @chrisrobertschrisroberts and I love finding places that aren't filled with tourists but that can be pretty hard when we're tourists ourselves and want to see all the spots that are recommended by the internet. I totally get why those places have the reputation they do and most often they are so worth seeing but there's really something special about being in a place with no other tourists around. @bubuh_bali was one of those spots, all the staff were so friendly and the locals greeted us with big smiles. It's also the spot where we've had the cheapest beers in Bali! This is the kind of authentic travel that I love! 📷 @chrisrobertschrisroberts #takethelesserknownroad #ubud
Couldn't resist sharing another one from the gorgeous @lacalongtime. @chrisrobertschrisroberts and I are absolutely loving island life and have been speaking a lot about the kind of life we want to live. Overall both of our major goals for life is health which essentially encompasses everything that's meaningful (to me). A healthy mind means happiness and contentment. A healthy body that's nourished by good food ( I dream of living off the land one day) and exercise that leads back to creating a healthy mind. A healthy body and mind leads to healthy relationships and interactions with the world. Here's to health ✨
Only been in Ubud two nights and I can already tell I'm not going to be able to visit all the amazing cafes and restaurants on offer. There are so many gorgeous spots and best of all every 2nd one is vegan. Last night we walked down the main street and glanced down the side streets to see if anything enticed us. @chrisrobertschrisroberts was saying it's so funny because we always see a logo we like, without seeing the vibe or menu which draws us to the place and most often it's exactly the kind of place we like. That was the case with @lacalongtime. It's gorgeous interior has some of the most well designed lighting I've ever experienced. I loved the contemporary take on Mexican culture. The food was just as good to look at and so tasty too!
Been so busy with other work that it's taken me ages to finally get to post the images from @durtybirdhanoi. There's a new post up the the blog today that documents our trip to @puluongretreat and our beautiful stay there. We've officially got 10 days left in Vietnam and this was a beautiful last trip to take here. Our visas aren't ready for Malaysia yet so we're starting to hustle plans for our next destination. Any tips on where we should go?! #puluong #ricepaddies
Absolutely in my element at @puluongretreat. As I've got older I've realized I'm happiest when surrounded by mountains. Puluong is giving me all the happy drugs I need! Our visa for Malaysia still hasn't come through yet so we decided we might as well travel while we wait. We're going to take each week as it comes and book short trips as we go. I kinda love this plan so I'm kinda wishing the visa will take a bit longer so we have an excuse to travel loads. To get to Puluong , we rented a motorbike and made the 5 hour journey via the most gorgeous mountain passes and through very rural villages. I've shared the route on my stories. I always get a bit anxious when I'm super isolated but today we were only met with love where ever we passed. Meeting a high school sweetheart was never in the plan for me, I was always a strong independent girl who didn't really notice a boy's attention. Chris came along and swept me off my feet... Errr... actually he challenged me to a race down the stairs from our Life Orientation classroom. Little did he know how competitive I was and before he could warn me that the teacher was coming, he chickened out. While letting me win he also enabled me to get my first detention. He didn't plead to take the fall for me but let me take it all on my own. 🤣 I quickly realised life isn't like the movies. To say that the last 7 months haven't been a challenge for our relationship would be totally untruthful. We always struggle through times of change as I'm sure many of you do to. I've questioned and learned so much. I questioned why we got married so young. Why we didn't just go off and have a bit of fun on our own. There was a moment last week where we were trying to fall asleep in our temporary single bed and I looked at Chris and thought there's nobody I would rather do this with. We can laugh and be silly together. We can do things unconventionally and not care what others think. My favourite of all is that we can dance like crazy people together in the clubs at 2am and get younger as we get older.

I've been fighting an internal frustration battle over the last few days as Chris and I patiently wait for our visas to Malaysia. I'm such a planner so I find this waiting game a huge challenge. We gave notice on our room so now we're both sharing a room with a single bed. It's super uncomfy so I'm taking refuge on the couch. I keep telling myself as I toss and turn at night that one day we will laugh about this. I also find it challenging to buy groceries as I don't want to buy to much and end up having to leave it all behind. It seems so silly but these are the things that occupy my mind. On the bright side, I was lacking a lot of confidence in my career so I've decided the best way to curb it is to gain knowledge. I've written out a schedule for everyday that commits an hour each day to learning. Its definitely easy to binge watch suits but it's a self destructive path. The last two mornings I've brushed up on my 3Ds Max skills and in September I'll be starting a course on Human Centered Design. I'm really looking forward to it! #brightyellow #hanoi
Today @profurn_contracts are finally on their way to complete the eco friendly lodge that has been in process for 2 odd years! Chikwenya is the most incredible place and I was lucky to visit it, for a site meeting. During our meeting at the camp, we were visited by a herd of elephants. There were no walls, nothing to protect us. These huge gracious creatures just went about their business, 3 metres away from us, as if we weren't there. You could hear their every foot step and breath. I sat there in awe thinking how incredibly lucky I was. That experience ignited a fire in me to explore more of Africa. I can't wait for the time when that dream becomes a reality. Today my body is in Vietnam but my heart and mind are with Profurn as they bring this very special place to life. I cannot wait to see the pictures and hopefully share them with all of you! #interiordesign
Happy Women's Day to all you strong and independent women!! Today I'm reminded that it's important to have my own ambitions and strive toward them everyday. I often feel that since I left university I lost track of my goals because I burnt myself out pretty badly during that time. When I started working, my focus turned toward living a happy, healthy and balanced life which I'm very grateful I realized so early in life. Living a happy life is still my main goal but I would also like to grow in my career. It's very important to me that I give the generation after me something to strive toward just like @everonicaphillips and my Ouma did for me.
